202 Florida Avenue NE added 254 units and 3,800 square feet of retail to the community, with the negotiated community benefits agreement including a pedestrian and bike connection between Florida Avenue and the Metropolitan Branch Trail, and wider sidewalks and crosswalks. I helped the developer expedite construction and it opened in early 2024.
February 2023: I discuss construction timeline with the developer and work with the Department of Buildings to remove obstacles to expedite the completion of the project.
April 2023: I work with the developer and the Department of Transportation to expedite removal of the construction crane to allow further construction work to proceed.
June 2023: I work with the developer and the Department of Buildings to approve expedited utility connections to the site.
February 2024: Construction complete and the housing begins leasing as The202 at Washington Gateway.
March 2024: MBT<->Florida Avenue pedestrian and bike connection opens.
October 2024: Crosswalk on Florida Avenue widened and restriped.
February 2025: I meet with the developer to discuss elevator availability concerns.
June 2025: I sponsor ANC5F-26-031 to approve an expedited liquor license for Alero, a full-service Mexican food restaurant relocating from U Street, in the ground floor space.
January 2026: Alero opens in the ground floor space, with seating for 114 inside and 20 outside.
